People who read our latest article about Belgian fashion will have noticed that there was someone missing from the list. We're talking of course about Jean-Paul Lespagnard, one of our favorite young Belgian designers. The trucker son from the Belgian city of Liège who has been praised by the likes of Suzy Menkes and Lele Acquarone presented his Fall/Winter collection two weeks ago in Paris in a packed Gaité Lyrique.
The collection named Maatjes (a soused herring), was inspired by a woman awaiting her lover coming back on his motor bike from a fishing trip. You can check the whole collection on our facebook page but we wanted to give a big shout out to the Lespagnard swag that will be a big hit this season.
Jean-Paul bedazzled necklaces, ear muffs, helmets and even an award winning eco-lamp by Belgian designer of the year Alain Gilles referencing the luminous scales of the herring. Avant-garde swag (made of strass, stones and metal elements) that's what we like!
Lespagnard keeps suprising us. On a creative level but also on a business level. Hard core fans can already pre-order his FW13 collection on a special temporary site, unseen in the fashion business. One thing is for sure, this iPhone case will be ours!
