This season, French Couture house Givenchy dazzled us with an intimate presentations, a good choice as they where able to better highlight the extremely detailed pieces. To bring this over, Givenchy relied on Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre. Graduated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he met his longstanding collaborator Raf Simons. Since then he’s been contributing to magazines such as Fantastic Man, Pop, L’Uomo Voguel, V and I-D. Recent advertising campaigns have included Jil Sander, Vera Wang, COS, Raf Simons and of course Givenchy.

This time he’s capturing Riccardo Tisci’s fall couture collection for Givenchy. Not a show, but 10 presented looks on Stockmans, as well front and back view portraits. Frida Kahlo inspired the religious and anatomical details in the long dresses and porcelain embroidered cat suits, blush-pink-gold, and long silk fringe, like human hair (we get a spontaneous flashback to Maison Martin Margiela’s wigs).

All of this was presented in 6 royal-like Parisian rooms. Going from the all-white “ceramic” room over  the “skin” room to the “gold” room. The last room featured a giant portrait by Willy Vanderperre of Tisci’s muses wearing the dresses, seen from the back. “I love that view,” Tisci explained, “the spine of people.”
