When Art Heals

It's a sad day for Belgium, as our beautiful capital Brussels was attacked by terrorists who left a trail of disaster. But the I Love Belgium team refuses to live in fear and therefore we want to write today about the power of the cartoon. As cartoons/comics are an integral part of our rich cultural and creative Belgian heritage we decided to show a selection of the images circulating the net.

Many of these images reflect what we can't put down in words. It's symbolizes the emotions we go through, the general feeling that is alive. The I Love Belgium team are strong believers that creativity can win from fear. That's also why the illustrations are taken from all over the world: from France to Colombia showing the support and compassion from all over the world.

Today we stand together as proud Belgians, backed up by our Belgians icons: Tintin, the Atomium, Manneken Pis, fries,...The surreal events of today have left us speechless but just like Magritte turned surrealism into an art form, these cartoons will help us process what we feel today.
