The new black gold isn’t charcoal anymore but another everyday necessity, you guessed it: coffee. Nowadays coffee shops pop up like daisies. Of course we always liked coffee but today it’s all about the coffee experience. And one company located in Antwerp seems to understand this very well, we present you: Vascobelo. A quality coffee company located in Antwerp that distributes coffee to the finest Barista shops and, through the webshop, into your lovely homes.Founded 15 years ago by Marc De Roeck, Vascobelo began the search for the perfect blend. They wanted to look for the highest quality that would result in a fine taste. The end product: ‘Il Presto’ (100% Arabica), their sale pitch: ‘Belgium’s finest coffee blend’. Just like our famous chocolates and beers Vascobelo wants to make their coffee an exclusive Belgian product.
To do that Vascobelo co-operates with the finest coffee tasters and professionals, like world champion Barista: Peter Hernou. He supervises workshops for Vascobelo so if you want to learn more about sublime coffee or if you simply want to be a superior Barista, grab your chance.
Clearly, quality comes first! Vascobelo makes sure that their coffee is served like it should be. Every shop that wants to sell their coffee needs to take a Barista training and there has to be a professional coffee maker with the obliged temperature of 92°C (198 °F). High moral standards are also present: the coffee is Rainforest Alliance Certified and Fair Trade.
What we noticed the most is their great design. They spent a lot of attention to the packaging. The coffee’s being preserved in a stylish cotton bag with a Belgian flag label, their logo: an elegant heron with a bowler hat. This hat, reappearing everywhere in the design, reminds us of detectives Thomson and Thompson from the comic book Tin Tin. A wink to the Belgian artist Hergé? Who knows …
