Since its opening in Antwerp, RA has been a platform for up and coming talent. It’s a brooding place for tomorrow’s avant garde designers and their restaurant is a hangout for the cool kids (if they can’t afford the clothing, they can always drink herbal tea). Topshop, the hyped British chain of clothing stores, is slowly entering the Belgian market with a savvy top-down strategy. Yes we know! Christmas markets are something typical German. There are buses full of Belgian old age pensioners driving to Cologne nowadays to feast on overpriced Glühwein, burned bratwurst and tacky knick-knacks. Are we cynical?
