Design Platform Limburg was so kind to invite the I Love Belgium design editor to judge a bunch of new creative talent for the Toegepast 18 competition. It was here that we discovered the work of Isabel Tesfazhi. We were immediately captured by her graphic knit and art/design proposals. Organic forms, artisan knit knowledge and a passion for tribal culture make the work of Isabel unmistakable fascinating! Read the rest of this entry »

KOP by URA
A few months ago we stumbled onto the site of architecture firm URA. Although they have a pretty fine portfolio, the I Love Belgium team went gaga for a specific picture. One which announced a nominated project for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2011, titled KOP. An industrial warehouse with psychedelic yet uniform black and white pattern. Today the I Love Belgium office received the pictures of the finished building and we’re more then happy to share these with you! Read the rest of this entry »

Pop-Up Poem

We Were Small
Supercute, superfun that’s what We Were Small is all about. We Were Small is a Belgian children’s wear brand, designed by Pascale and her 4 year old daughter Lynn: together they think up and draw monsters, giving them names. A make-belief world of monsters if you wish. And of course, every item has to go through the ‘Lynn-test’ before it hits the market. The t-shirts are not only high fun but also high quality. Together with their manufacturers there is a continuous quest for durability. Durable because it’s for heavy duty playing and day to day wearing.

Fact: Belgium has the highest ratio of Michelin stars per capita in the world! So we can conclude that Belgium is, by definition, a culinary country. But it doesn’t stop there, lately there’s a whole new foodie frenzy. Cooking shows are non-stop on our television screens and new cookbooks are daily published. That’s why the I Love Belgium team started wondering… We know the faces and dishes of the master chefs, but who are the people behind the bigger culinary picture?
