Belgian born but London based photographer Jean-François Carly made a series of portraits depicting cuddling snakes! His work, described as romantic and surreal, hold a certain subtle elegance and vaporous darkness. And there’s no better translation then a dangerous but gorgeous snake adorned around a naked body. We’re not sure if this accessory trend will catch on… Still, the models kept a graceful face as venomous reptiles slither freely across their bodies.
Jean-François’s passion for photography can be traced back to when he received his first camera at the age of five. The camera sparked a curiosity and desire that has not faded to this day. In his late teens he discovered the work of Diane Arbus, Joel Peter Witkin, Disfarmer and Avedon. Describing the images he saw as “beautiful and challenging”, it was at this point he realised the potential fashion photography could offer in creating extraordinary representations of creativity, imagination and above all, beauty.
He contributed for magazines such as Harpers Bazaar, V magazine and Vogue Homme International. As an extension of his photographic work, he produced numerous short fashion films for Showstudio, Maison Martin Margiela, etc…and has been shown at The London Fashion Film Festival, The British Film Institute, The V&A and The Institute of Contemporary Art London. Yes, another huge Belgian talent!
