Delvaux ‘Toujours’

What’s the oldest leatherwear brand in the world? Hermès? We don’t want to disappoint our French neighbours but it’s the Belgian house of Delvaux. In 1829 Charles Delvaux added a shop window to his Brussels studio. His handcrafted trunks quickly gained universal admiration. In 1883, Delvaux became a warrant holder to the Court of Belgium. And in 1898, the House was the first to patent a model (the Edison trunk). Spurred on by this success, the range was further extended to include luggage, boxes, suitcases, and more. Willy Vanderperre for Givenchy

Willy Vanderperre Couture Givenchy Belgium 2010 ParisThis season, French Couture house Givenchy dazzled us with an intimate presentations, a good choice as they where able to better highlight the extremely detailed pieces. To bring this over, Givenchy relied on Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre. Graduated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he met his longstanding collaborator Raf Simons. Since then he’s been contributing to magazines such as Fantastic Man, Pop, L’Uomo Voguel, V and I-D. Recent advertising campaigns have included Jil Sander, Vera Wang, COS, Raf Simons and of course Givenchy.

Atelier 11 FW10 – Enchanted

Atelier 11’s Fall/Winter collection 2010 Enchanted reads like a fairytale. The Antwerp based jewelry collective was inspired by epics such Lord of  the Rings or oldskool whimsical movies such as Labyrinth (Ludovic Colpaert, one half of Atelier 11 is a huge David Bowie fan, check out the master of androgyny himself in this eighties fairytale). Mouton Collet studded helmet – Alejandro video

One of Belgian jewelry design duo Mouton Collet’s designs was featured in Lada Gaga’s new video ‘Alejandro’ that was released today.  Gaga was already  a fan of Matthieu (Mouton) and Nicolas’ (Collet) work. She wore their feathered antlers during a London night out and now their studded helmet is worn by Brazilian super model Evandro Soldati in Gaga’s new video. The video was directed by Steven Klein. Coccodrillo men’s store

Coccodrillo, Antwerp’s most renowned shoe store finally dedicated  a whole store to their men’s collections. The art-deco inspired interior of the men’s store, just across the first Coccodrillo store in the Schuttershofstraat, was done by Gert Voorjans. The space breathes 30s Buenos Aires with loads of wooden accents and geometrical chandeliers confirming the male character of the store. Read the rest of this entry »
