Alice Knackfuss heats our hearts and bodies with her newest autumn winter collection 2012, inspired on the story of Sadoka Sasaki. A.KNACKFUSS is a brand with a strong focus on innovation, nevertheless Alice finds her motivation in the past, in stories from old and foreign narrations.
Her latest collection is inspired on the heartbreaking story of Sadoka Sasaki, a victim of the nuclear bombing in Hiroshima. About twenty years ago this young girl suffered and died from leukemia. She started making tons of origami cranes. out of the believe that she could be with her family again when she had made a 1000 cranes. Alice Knackfuss brought this story back to life in her autumn winter collection consisting of beautiful origami and crane forms and patterns. She used rough tissues in combination with fragile flannel and draped silk in gloomy pastel colors.
Alice studied at the Academy of Fashion and Design in Munich, but later she decided to switch her hometown for Brussels. After gaining experience at Kris Van Assche an Ute Poiter and the men department of Diesel, she launched her own brand a year ago. Her focus lies on the manipulation of tissues. She draws inspiration from the masculine costume to provide women from comfortable powerful clothing. Her latest collection movie will show you what we mean!
