I Love Belgium noticed Alain Biltereyst: a graphic designer whose work is very accessible but yet interesting. Fact is that the man is very diversified: one of his styles is very linear and refined, other times he works with color blocks and flat spaces.
Biltereyst already worked large campaigns for big company’s like De standaard, Gouden Gids and Max Havelaar. He always seems to portray their message in an original or creative way. Look at the Holebi-campaign for example: what a subtle and at the same time very direct way to raise awareness! With the Gouden Gids-campaign he used a completely different approach: the images outshine the competition because of the distilled form resulting in a pure aesthetic. That Biltereyst also has a sense of humor he demonstrates with the images for Metro and his advert for the Nivea Clear-up Strip to remove black heads. For this he used a Lichtenstein image and erased the dots on the nose: genius!
Alain Biltereys brings graphic design on different levels. Enjoyable as an image that passes in a magazine or as a way to reflect on something. We think that Biltereyst illustrates that commercial isn’t always that bad…
