Illustrations are hot! You can’t flip open a fashion magazine without seeing aquarelles of catwalk silhouettes or articles illustrated with artsy drawings. Sometimes they’re just nice. You look at them and you think “mmm, that’s a nice drawing”. But then you also have drawings that really evoke certain emotions. They make you smile or they make you sad. They make you raise an eyebrow or they fill you with disgust.

One of I Love Belgium’s favourite artists at the moment is Brussels based Achraf Amiri. This young potential, graduated at Sint-Lukas Brussels is a freelance Art Director and Graphic Designer but looking at his illustrations, this is certainly where his heart lies. This young man can put emotion into a drawing! Sometimes there cartoon-like, sometimes they’re really romantic, sometimes they’re high fashion, The I Love Belgium team loves his sarcastic and exaggerated view on the fashion industry: emaciated models, over-the-top make-up, killer heels and ego-tripping fashion designers.
